It’s that time again to celebrate YOU –our wonderful residents! To let every resident know how much we care Corvias will host our annual Resident Appreciation Celebration on Friday, May 15th, from 4 to 7pm at the Potomac Place Community Center.
Join us for a baseball themed event for the whole family. Enjoy a sports challenge, video game truck, face painting, balloon artist, complimentary food and more! Don’t forget to wear your baseball paraphernalia. The Directorate of Emergency Services (DES) will also host their annual Bike Safety course in coordination with the event. Children need to bring their own bikes and helmets in order to participate in this year's Bike Safety course.
The HQDA RCI (Residential Communities Initiatives) will be conducting their Resident Satisfaction Survey via e-mail from May 7th – June 7th at all Corvias Military Living Army locations. Please click here to read the attached memo from Lieutenant General, David D. Halverson, IMCOM Commander and GS Assistant Chief of Staff for Installation Management. This important survey will help ensure the continued success of the RCI program in meeting your needs and will help guide the Army and Corvias in the development of future improvements to our homes and services. This survey will be administered through a third party, CEL & Associates, Inc. (CEL). The survey results are confidential, so please express your true opinions and thoughts. All residents who complete the survey will be entered to win a grand prize of $250 per community.
Corvias Military Living is pleased to announce the addition of an automated voicemail system through a third-party company, One Call Now. Using this system will allow us to inform you of emergencies, notifications and other important messages that are related to your home. We also encourage you to opt in to begin receiving these important messages via text messaging. Simply text the word, “ALERT” to 22300 in order to opt in or visit www.OneCallNow.com/TextAlerts. If you have a text message plan, these messages will be included in your plan. Otherwise, standard text message charges apply. At Corvias we are committed to keeping you informed and we believe the use of this automated system, in addition to our current methods of communication, will ensure you receive these important messages quickly. Please contact your community office if you have any questions!
Join us as we celebrate Military Spouse Appreciation Day on Friday, May 8th. This is a special day to honor the husbands, wives and loved ones of our service members for their contributions and sacrifices. We salute these unsung heroes for managing frequent relocations, family separations, multiple deployments, changing jobs and overcoming language and cultural barriers.
Corvias Military Living would like to thank all military spouses for your commitment and service. As a way to say show our appreciation, all residents are invited to visit their community office on Friday, May 8th from 9 am-12 pm to enjoy a make your own yogurt parfait bar. There will be a variety of yogurt, fresh fruit, granola and other yummy toppings.
Having a pet is fun, but pet ownership also comes with many responsibilities. If you already have a family pet, or are thinking about getting one, here are some tips to keep in mind.
Care for your pet
Caring for your animal is the greatest responsibility of pet ownership. Your pet depends on you for basic needs such as food, water and shelter. To keep your animal healthy make sure your pet is registered with the post veterinarian, vaccinated, micro chipped and receives annual check-ups.
Pets require your time and attention. Whether your pet requires a lot of care or is low maintenance, find time to spend with your pet. Brushing your pet is a great way to spend some time together and can reduce pet hair around the house. Our pets are social creatures and thrive on social stimulation.
Regularly exercise your pet to keep them happy and healthy. Going for a walk or playing around the house benefits both you and your pet.Hygiene
Dealing with pet waste is one of those topics that every pet owner must deal with but no one likes to talk about. The fact is the majority of community and neighborhood pet problems result from inappropriate handling of pet waste. In addition, pet waste is the greatest source of potential health risk for your pet and your family. Scoop litter boxes daily and clean them regularly. If your pet spends time outside your house, clean up waste from the yard and common areas daily.
For your pet’s wellbeing make sure you always follow the Pet Policy outlined in the Resident Responsibility Guide. For more information on pet ownership visit the American Veterinary Medical Association’s website.
All Corvias Community Center pools at Fort Meade will open on Saturday, May 23 at 11:00 a.m. for Memorial Day weekend. The pools are open to all Corvias residents living on post. Residents will need to provide a pool pass to access the pool. Four guests are allowed per family. Residents who do not have a pool pass should pick one up at the community office.
For more information on pool passes or openings, please contact your community office. We look forward to a summer of fun in the sun at the pools!
Please see below for the hours of operation for the summer:
- Monday-Thursday: 11am-7pm
- Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Holidays: 11am-8pm
- The pool hours while school is in session are 4pm-8pm on weekdays
Take advantage of spring weather! While the temperatures outside are comfortable, use a window or ceiling fan instead of the air conditioner. A fan only requires a tenth of the energy needed to run an air conditioner.
Don’t forget! Applications for the Corvias Foundation $5,000 educational grant for spouses of active-duty service members are due Thursday, May 7. The application is available online at corviasfoundation.org.
Your community calendar can help you stay up-to-date on trash, recycling, lawn care, resident events and community activities.
You can even sync your community calendar with a personal Google calendar by clicking on the +Google button on the bottom right-hand corner of the calendar.
